A United Kingdom based firm has expressed interest in setting up an energy power plant that will produce energy from recycled solid waste in Nakuru County.
Naanovo Energy Production Company’s founder Anthony Fiddy expressed his interest in setting up the company in the region when he visited Governor Kinuthia Mbugua in his office on Thursday.
Fiddy remarked that Naanovo has the capacity to recycle waste within the county and light up areas including slums which have had no power since independence.
“The key aim of this company investing in Nakuru County is to light up the slums and reduce crime, create revenue for the county through the payment of taxes and will keep the county clean,” he said.
He also said the company will create jobs for scores of residents who have been grappling with unemployment.
Mbugua welcomed the establishment of the company in the area saying the county openly welcomes investors of good will.
“I welcome this establishment because it will provide a permanent solution to the solid waste management problem in the county, which for a long time has been a major challenge to us,” he said.
Naanovo Energy Production Company is a global market that has tapped on renewable energy in emerging markets across the globe.
Fiddy also said the company will set up a clinic, fire engine services and clean bottled water.
