A renown University of Nairobi lecturer, Prof Stephen Nzuve has been shot dead.
The don was shot dead in Tala on Saturday while returning home.
The don, 66, who lectured at the University of Nairobi's Lower Kabete campus is said to have succumbed to gunshots after being ambushed by five men as he approached his gate in Tala town at about 7pm.
Tala town has of recent experienced a spate of killings, which police point to a gang operating in the area.
Top security officers led by Matungulu OCPD Joseh Chesire visited the deceased don's home after the killing.
Family member said the gang hijacked the don at the gate to his home and led him to his house where they terrorised them for close to five hours before shooting him.
The gang is said to have left with the late Nzuve's ATM cards and mobile phones.
His body was taken to the Kangundo hospital mortuary.
Senator Johnstone Muthama and area MP Stephen Mule were among the first people to arrive at the late Professor’s home at Kyakatulu village to condole with the family.
The two called for speedy investigations into the incident as no arrests have been made so far.
