Water and Irrigation Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa has urged youth to play a proactive role in shaping the destiny of Kenya.
"Youth have a responsibility to shape the destiny of this nation and steer it forward if given moral support," said Wamalwa.
Speaking on Friday in Thika Town during Mount Kenya University ninth graduation ceremony, Wamalwa noted that youth have a role to play in national development and they should not be sidelined.
"In a democratic country, youth should have their say in everything that affects their lives, politically, socially and economically," said Wamalwa.
He noted that democracy and development can only move forward on a positive trajectory if youth are engaged in nation building.
"The nation should give youth ample time to contribute to the growth of this nation," he said.
The founder and the chairman of MKU, Simon Gicheru revealed that the institution will launch more campus in the country and regionally to address the challenges affecting youth.
"We are in the process of launching campuses in Nakuru and Rwanda to address the challenges of education," said Gicheru .
He said MKU will continue offering tailor-made solutions to address the challenges affecting the lives of people in East Africa.
