Residents of Kisii County are set to benefit from an improved water supply by the county government in partnership with the German Bank for Development (KFW).

Speaking on Friday in Kisii town during the launch of the equipment, Governor James Ongwae said the project will address the existing water supply and sanitation challenges.

"An infrastructure upgrade will be done to improve water supply to residents," said Mr Ongwae.

The equipment commissioned by the governor includes; 5,012 consumer water metres, 1 portable meter testing kit, 69 valves and fittings, 1 HDPE hydraulic butt fusion machine, among others.

Kisii residents have in the recent past been complained about water shortage.

Gusii Water and Sanitation Company (GWASCO) Tuesday last week held a demonstration demanding that the company's director be sacked.
