Kisii deputy governor Joash Maangi has said that Kisii county government is committed towards ensuring high integrity and ethics at work places for effective service delivery.
Speaking in Kisii Town on Thursday during the flagging off and launch of the Anti-Corruption week, Maangi said the county government fully supports efforts to combat corruption.
He said the county had partnered with the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) to conduct public education on anti-corruption, ethics, integrity and governance.
He said the anti-corruption week will culminate in a public baraza at the Gusii Stadium on December 9, 2015, during celebrations to mark the International Anti-Corruption Day.
"Over the next seven days, EACC will undertake training of county executives and MCAs on matters ethics and integrity. Conducting civic education to empower local communities in three selected sub counties, offering advisory services to the county government on corruption prevention and enhancing public engagement in the fight against corruption," he said.
“In Kisii County, we have laid down an institutional framework to ensure services are brought closer to the people. To ensure our people realise their aspirations under the devolved governance system, we have made deliberate efforts to promote transparency and accountability in the management of public funds and other resources,” he said.
Recently, the county government launched a code of conduct and ethics for all public officers.
All officers working in the county government had been issued with copies of the document.
The county also launched an Anti-Corruption Policy and established a corruption prevention committee.
