Witeithie slum residents have been cautioned against walking late in the night following cases of mugging around the slum.
Speaking to the press on Monday, the officer in charge of Witeithie Police Post sergeant James Linguli said they are on high alert as they beef up security to nail criminals marauding the area.
He advised the residents to stay indoors at night to ensure no one is nailed in police swoops done at night to arrest muggers.
"We have been investigating the claims that people are being robbed of their property at night in this area and we have some leads which we are following and we will make arrests very soon,” Linguli said.
"Try as much as possible to stay indoors during the night as you can get caught by the police in their intensified patrols,” the officer added.
He urged residents to continue working with the police.
He further promised to cooperate with residents and ensure the confidentiality of informers.
