Aggrey Okeyo, a financial expert based in Kisumu, said many people make a mistake of not saving while young, something they come to regret later.

Speaking to this writer on Monday, Okoyo said saving does not need one to be earning a huge salary. He said what is important is not the amount you save but the discipline to start saving.

"Saving is a culture, and as we know a culture is learned and incorporated into our daily lives. The earlier the better," Okoyo said.

He added that many young people believe that they will start saving when they settle down with families, something that is disastrous.

"Saving when you have a family is difficultbecause families demand a lot. Every little money you get will be distributed among various needs. if you save now then those needs will be nothing," Okoyo said.
