Bodaboda operators near Moi University in Eldoret were dealt a big blow after they were prevented from carrying passengers into the institution during the ongoing registration of new students.
High security was maintained by the university as students from several parts of the country reported to the main campus for admission into their first year of study.
The process which kicked off on Monday morning has seen thousands of students report to complete the exercise which is set to continue for the entire week.
Police were seen moving around the university when HiviSasa visited the campus as students went on with their registration process in various schools. But the bodaboda operators could only watch as they were denied permission to carry passengers inside the university.
'"We are not happy at all with this, this is what feeds our families and yet we are not allowed to carry out our businesses," one of the operators complained.
The measure which came as a surprise to them in the morning angered the group which was not convinced that the step would help improve security in the institution.
"They are suspecting us for nothing yet last year during this process we were able to carry passengers into the university," another operator said.
The process has since been peaceful with no cases of insecurity reported around the university. The university is expected to register more than four thousand students for the 2015/2016 academic year.
