A section of residents and transporters in Bomachoge Borabu constituency of Kisii County on Friday morning held a peaceful protest match over poor state of roads.
Residents who were interviewed said they were appalled by the apparent lack of action from the authorities on the deplorable state of the roads in the area.
They said their social and economic activities are affected by the poor condition of the roads as personal and public service vehicles cannot pass through the roads especially roads from Kenyenya all way to Ogembo.
Samson Omenta a village elder said the roads have become impassable after they were damaged in the recent heavy rains thus affecting transportation and communication.
“The roads should be repaired as a matter of priority so as to ensure the smooth movement of people, services and goods and this will see us improve the economic status of the area,” he said.
He also called on the relevant authorities to undertake urgent roadwork to fix the mess caused by the recent heavy downpour and flooding experienced in the rural town.
The angry residents said they decided to take to the streets after presenting their grievances to the area Member of Parliament, Joel Onyancha and the county government authorities to no avail.
