A youth was arraigned in a Nakuru court on Monday and charged with stealing a phone.
Rashid Juma Njoroge is accused of stealing the phone valued at Sh1500 from Rosa Chebet on September 24 at Nakuru Law Courts.
Juma also faced a second account of being found with stolen property.
It’s alleged that Juma was spotted on CCTV stealing the phone by security guards, who later intercepted him as he exited from the courtroom.
Appearing before Senior Principle Magistrate Liz Gicheha, Juma pleaded not guilty to the charge and was released on Sh10,000 bond or an alternative cash bail of Sh5,000.
The case will be heard on October 27.
In the same court, a 16-year-old boy accused of stealing Sh22,400 from Simon Nzioka was released on a Sh5,000 cash bail to pave the way for negotiations with the complainant who wants to withdraw the case against the minor.
The prosecution, led by Hillary Songoyo, said the complainant had informed him that he was ready to withdraw the case if the accused refunds the money.
The court also ordered that the suspect be remanded at a juvenile offenders' home if he fails to raise the cash bail.
The case will be mentioned on October 15.
