Residents of Kiambaa constituency in Kiambu county have been assured of clean and affordable water in their homes in the next 5 years.

Speaking on Sunday after a church service at St. Pauls Catholic Church, the area member of Parliament, Mr. Paul Koinange said the local leadership had embarked on implementation of the constituency strategic development plans whereby provision of clean water to residents was among the priorities.

Mr. Koinange said that a total of sh.446million was expected to be spent by the end of the 5 years plan in the water sector. He also said that the team entrusted with the physical identification and mapping of water sources in the constituency had commenced work in all the wards.

He added that the identification and mapping exercise would ensure that at least one bore hole was professionally drilled in every ward especially in the drier areas of the constituency.

Mr. Koinange pointed out that Kshs.96 million will be used in the current year, Kshs. 100 million in the year 2016, and Kshs. 50 million in 2017 while Kshs. 2oo million would be pumped in water sector in 2018 to fully implement the water sector improvement plan.

The legislator also said that the constituency leadership was committed to fast tracking public capacity building programs across the constituency. 

He said that the public sensitisation program was aimed at encouraging people in the area to adapt the culture of harvesting and storing rain water for future domestic use long after the October – December rains.
