Lusighetti residents in Kikuyu Constituency have a reason to smile following the commissioning of a water project in the area.
The residents have been complaining to local leaders to avail piped water to the region saying lack of the resource had slowed down development and impacted on food security.
The water project which is funded by the Constituency Development Fund will be set up at the DEB Primary School and will benefit residents from the neighbourhood.
On Friday, Kikuyu MP Ichungwa Kimani urged residents to embrace the project by venturing into farming to increase food production.
The lawmaker who was speaking at Lusighetti further added that plans are underway to ensure that every homestead in the area gets piped water.
“I have plans that by the end of this financial year, every homestead will be having water and thus will greatly improve our economy since I am willing to transform lives as per my manifesto,” said Ichungwa.
He has called on other leaders in the constituency to join hands and help in sensitising residents and farmers into venturing in farming saying it was the economic mainstay.
