A man suspected to have killed two women at Milimani Estate in Maralal Town was on Wednesday arraigned before the High Court in Nakuru to face murder charges.

Joseph Mumo Musengya is alleged to have killed a French citizen, Dominigue Marther and her host, Eunice Lowapere during the night of July 14, 2015 at the Olo Polos area in Maralal before dumping their bodies.

Lady Justice Maureen Odero said that Musengya had just been made aware of charges facing him and as such he could not take plea.

She ordered that the accused be taken to the Nakuru Provincial General Hospital for mental assessment to assure the court he was fit to stand trial.

On Monday September 7, the Samburu Central CID office through the investigating officer, Job Mwita, had applied for continued detention of Musengya at Maralal Police Station before Resident Magistrate Abraham Gachie for seven more days to enable him complete investigations on the murder of the deceased.

In the same court, Jaffeth Ndungu was accused of killing Hussein Mohammed Hassan on August 25, 2015 at around 10pm at Mutara Village in Samburu.

The two will be remanded at Nakuru GK Prison to undergo mental examination until September 25, when they will  take plea.
