A police officer based at Kithimani Police Patrol Base is under investigation after he allegedly assaulted a villager at a local bar on Sunday evening.

Yatta OCPD Edward Kipsang said Constable Dennis Muthomi was arrested on Sunday while drunk and still in uniform.

“We are interrogating the officer over the matter and we will deal with him like any other offender,” he said.

The police commander added that all police officers, whether on or off duty, must uphold the professional ethics of the police service.

The officer is being held in Yatta Police Station.
