Kisii residents have challenged Kenya Power to sensitise them on how to differentiate between quacks and real technicians of the company.

This comes after Kenya Power Nyanza region launched an operation to disconnect all illegal electricity connections last week, done by fake contractors and technicians.

The residents have now have raised their voices, challenging the power supplier to make sure that they sensitise them on how to differentiate quacks from genuine technicians and officials.

“It is so hard for us to differentiate between quacks and real contractors since both have identification cards for Kenya Power,” said Simeon Nyakara, a resident.

They said that although the government lowered electricity connection fee to just Sh15,000, there is no clear information on when it will be effected.

Another resident, Fred Onyango, said that there are some people who visit residents with Kenya Power forms and after applying for power connections, they come to realise that they were illegal connections.

“Let us be informed on how to apply for power connections and identify genuine Kenya Power officials to avoid loss of money to quacks," Mr Onyango appealed.
