Residents of Borabu constituency from jigger infested areas have a reason to smile after the county government through the leadership of Mrs Naomi Nyagarama led an anti-jigger campaign in the region.
Esise and Nyansiongo township wars were beneficiaries as the county government targets to completely eradicate the menace in the county.
Mrs Nyagarama on Saturday said the activity aimed at reducing the number of children dropping out of schools due to danger posed by jiggers.
“We are really determined to ensure this menace is completely rooted out of our county. My team is targeting areas that are seriously affected and we are also determined to ensure our children who had dropped out of school are given a second chance,” she said.
She urged well-wishers to team up with the county government in a bid to make the exercise systematic and fruitful for the sake of county residents.
“I want to applaud well-wishers and at the same time urge them to team up with us to make the exercise systematic and fruitful for the sake of our people,” she said.
The governor's spouse urged Nyamira residents to shun persistent politicking and join hands to develop the county for prosperity.
“This is our county and we must take it where it belongs. To ensure we are progressing it terms of economic empowerment, we must shun negative politics,” she added.
