The wife of Nakuru County Governor Lucia Mbugua has called on parents of children with disability to bring them out so that their potentials could be utilised to the fullest
Speaking at the Naivasha Disability Resource Centre on Sunday she stressed that disability wasn’t Inability. She challenged parents who hide their children to have confidence seek assistance that is available.
“Who said that a child with disability is not a productive child?” She posed.
Mbugua said by hiding these children parents are denying them the chance to realize their potentials and talents. She said that such practice leads to a miserable life for the children.
“It’s sad that some parents are ashamed of their own offspring’s because they have a disability. In fact, a majority of these children are usually multi-talented, it’s only by bringing them out that their talents can be noticed and nurtured,” she stressed.
She was in the company of wives of governors from other counties after a three day Strategic Planning Workshop in Sawela Lodge Naivasha that brought together 40 of them. The workshop was opened by Nakuru County Governor Kinuthia Mbugua who praised their efforts in addressing various challenges common in the counties that aren’t directly tackled by the county or national governments.
During this visit, they donated food stuffs, playing materials, shoes and blankets.
The resource centre is home for more than 200 disabled children from different parts of the country.
