A 78-year-old woman was on Saturday found brutally murdered in Kimunyu area of Gatundu Sub-County.
Residents claim illicit brewers in the area have released a list of all the residents who have been actively fighting their trade indicating that woman might have been targeted by the aggrieved rogue traders.
Confirming the incident Gatundu North OCPD Benjamin Mwasaha said the woman identified as Julia Waithera, was recently highlighted for fighting hard to eliminate killer brew in the area.
He said that the body showed that the woman was hit by a crude weapon in the head before being stabbed several times on her neck and head.
The OCPD said that the police have launched an investigation into the matter to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to book.
However, Mwasaha cautioned the residents against implicating people on such serious matters and asked them to give the police time to deal with the suspects.
“We have recovered the body of this woman in her house, we have started the investigations and we will make an arrest once we have the leads, meanwhile I would ask the residents to stop linking anyone to the murder as we are already investigating. If they are guilty we will arrest them and prosecute them,” he said.
The body of the deceased was taken to Gatundu Level Four Hospital Mortuary.
