Gilgil Youth Coordinator Bernard Munyaga has urged youth from the region to apply for national identification cards to enable them get jobs.

Speaking on Wednesday in Gilgil Town, Nakuru County to a group of youth who have quit alcohol, Munyaga said lack of IDs among the youth had locked many out of the available job opportunities.

“Most youth have no IDs and this makes it hard for them to get jobs,” said Munyaga.

He now wants the national government to fast-track the process of issuing the vital document.

He also called on the county government of Nakuru to carry out civic education among youth on the tendering process to enable them reap from the 30 per cent of government tenders.

“Most youths have little or no information on the tendering process which locks them out of the lucrative government tenders,” said the youth official.

Munyaga, however, urged youth not to go back to drinking stating that the vice had ruined many lives and families.

He advised them to venture into business since they can get loans from the Youth Enterprise and Uwezo funds.
