Kenyans have been urged to stay vigilant and report cases of vandalism of Kenya Power property to improve the supply electricity countrywide.
Kenya Power managing director Ben Chumo said that there has been increased rate of vandalism of Kenya Power property saying millions have been lost.
Speaking during the official opening of a Stima Sacco branch in Eldoret Town Chemno said the vandalism of transmission lines, poles and transformers has inconvenienced thousands of people and increased the company's operational costs drastically.
"I urge Kenyans to act as our watchdog and protect our property by reporting any one trying to or colluding with anyone to vandalise our cables and transformers," he urged.
He says that a couple of power outages are due to few self-centred individuals who want to make money through illegal means.
"Those who sell or buy Kenya Power products will be arrested and prosecuted to act as an example to people with similar behaviour," he said.
He urged Kenyans to apply for subsidised electricity where he says connection costs are now down from Sh35,000 to Sh15,000 payable in instalments.
