Nyando MP Fred Outa has dismissed claims that he is seeking to succeed Prof Anyang' Nyong'o as Kisumu Senator.

Speaking at a funeral at Ahero, in Nyando Sub-County, Outa said that he was aware of speculation around him planning to run for the Kisumu senatorial seat.

The legislator told mourners that he was going to defend his parliamentary seat in the next general elections and termed claims of him eyeing the senatorial seat as rumours.

There has been speculation that the Nyando legislator will vie for the senatorial seat if Kisumu Senator Anyang Nyongo decides to go for the gubernatorial seat.

"The ODM party will sit down and see how an appropriate leadership structure can be mapped out in Kisumu then advise all potential candidates on the same. But for now, I seek to serve my people in the level in which I am serving them."

The MP has in the past been said to be eyeing the Kisumu Gubernatorial seat owing to his criticism of Governor Ranguma's governance, a claim he rubbished saying he was only giving advice to the county government.
