Mombasa County governor Ali Hassan Joho has called for unity among Coast region political leaders to spearhead development.
Governor Joho promised to ensure that there is unity among the leaders and warned against divisive politics which has rocked the region over the recent times.
He reiterated the need for the leaders to join hands for the common good of the residents who elected them and who have high expectations of quality leadership from them.
Addressing the coastal counties’ representatives, investors and Cord members who attended the closure of the Jumuia Ya Kaunti Za Pwani symposium Saturday, Joho called upon not only political leaders but every responsible citizen to support their course for the well being of the county’s economic growth.
The symposium started on October 22 at Jacaranda Beach Hotel, Diani, Ukunda sub county.
While commenting on the spiky and controversial 2015 Land Bill issue still in parliamentary debate waiting list, Joho told the Opposition legislators led by ODM Secretary General Ababu Namwamba that the bill, if passed, might roll the country backwards.
“I call upon our secretary general Abubu to represent us well and other members of parliament to oppose the motion, since we don’t have powers to vote in parliament,” Joho said.
