Women from Juja Farm area will now enjoy free maternity services after Juja MP Francis Munyua commissioned the first maternity ward in the sub-county.
The move is aimed at improving pre-natal and post-natal care as women from the area have been forced to seek services from either Thika Level 5 or Ruiru District hospitals.
Speaking on Monday, Munyua said the health and education sectors in the constituency have been lagging behind, adding that he is dedicated to improving them.
He said he has the resources and the public has mandated him for the same.
“You chose me to bring development and I am doing so. You have been seeking these services from Thika and Ruiru but now they are near your door steps. Utilise them,” he said.
The whole of Juja area has been operating without a public health institution and a school.
The MP has commenced the construction of a public secondary school while the county government is set the start the construction of a hospital in the area.
The maternity ward at Juja Farm health centre is aimed at bringing services closer to the people and also ease congestion at Thika Level 5 Hospital.
Residents have lauded the project.
