Bharti airtel has launched free Internet service for Kamagambo Teachers Training College in Kisii County in its Internet for schools project.

“We have so far connected 250 institutions with a plan of connecting at least 1 million students to Internet,” Adil El Youssefi, airtel CEO said during the launch.

The free Internet connectivity to the college will enable students to benefit from wide educational information available online, that will nurture and develop their business ideas.

“I urge students at this college to take advantage of this opportunity and make value out of it,” he added.

The program by airtel is seeking to provide free connectivity to learning institutions across the country so as to support the education system.

The company aims to connect Internet access to more learning institutions especially those that are unable to afford the access cost. Also the free access will assist even teachers to get more of what is going around the world for them to be enlightened.

Earlier in June airtel had partnered with the Chandaria Foundation and the Global Peace Foundation to provide 41 schools with free Internet access.
