The Kisii County finance and county assembly's clerk offices, which were closed on Tuesday evening by Members of the County Assembly in Kisii over their unpaid allowances have been reopened.
The offices were reopened on Wednesday by the Kisii OCPD, Francis Nguri, who said investigations were underway to identify the specific MCAs who closed the offices and bring them to book.
While closing the offices, the MCAs claimed they had not been paid their allowances for the last 32 sittings.
However, their claims were refuted by the Kisii county assembly clerk James Nyaboga and Joseph Amenya, the Finance office Chairman in Kisii County, who said that members were paid according to their number of sittings.
“I hope that the CCTV cameras will assist in the investigations to ascertain the MCAs who took part in the incident,” said Nguri.
Last month, the MCAs refused to attend some sitting proceedings over alleged unpaid allowances.
It remains to be seen if there will be any action taken against those found guilty of closing down the offices.
