A 36-year-old man found guilty of stealing a mobile phone worth Sh2000 has been jailed for two months and ordered to pay Sh6000 by a magistrate in Naivasha .
Moses Ngunjiri appeared before Resident Magistrate Selina Mchungi charged that march 4, this year he broke into David Wainaina's house at Gilgil and stole the phone.
On material day, Wainana is said to have left for work early in the morning in the company of his wife and a mother
However, his mother returned home after an a hour and noticed that the house had been broken into and on entry, she told the court found the accused hiding behind the seats.
His attempt to flee from the house were thwarted after Wainaina mother raised alarm attracting the neighbours who immediately responded.
Angry neighbors descended on him with kicks and blows after the phone was found in his pocket before police officers from Gilgil rescued him.
He was rushed to Gilgil Sub-District Hospital where he was treated and discharged and later arraigned in court.
