Nyamira Governor John Nyagarama on Sunday was put to task to explain his record on improving roads in the region.
They said good roads will ease transportation of farm produce to markets.
During a tour to Mosobeti market in Kitutu Masaba constituency, Nyagarama was put to task by angry residents who criticised his development record.
They also accused him of favouritism in his leadership.
“Mr governor your leadership is underwhelming. The county government is full of corruption and no wonder the millions of shillings budgeted to improve feeder roads are never used for the function. You have failed us as peasant farmers and we are really waiting to show you the door,” said Kaunda Mwebi when allowed to ask question.
They demanded to know how the over Sh100 million allocated to improve roads in the region was spend.
“We are aware that your government allocated over Sh100 million in 2014/2015 financial year for roads but nothing viable has been taking place,” added Kaunda.
However, Nyagarama said his government had done over 250km of roads in the region and asked residents to give his government sometime to complete the projects.
“Nyamira is big and we cannot really divert all the money to roads. I have done over 250km and the work is still ongoing. Some of the roads are done by the national government hence are not under my jurisdiction,” he said.
