Kiambu Town MP Jude Njomo has questioned the capacity of county governments to deal with health matters considering the frequent strikes by health workers in some regions.
Njomo who was addressing the public in Kiambu town on Sunday expressed his disappointment with the counties saying that they have failed Kenyans in managing the health sector.
"So far I do not feel that the county governments are in a position to handle health. Since the sector was devolved almost three years ago, they have not shown any capacity to deal with it," said Njomo.
He said that health was an important issue which if the county governments cannot be able to handle, should be taken over by the national government.
"As leaders, we are very concerned with the way the county governments have been handling health services in the country. It has been below par and it is the high time we started a national debate on how to revert the docket back to the national government," he added.
He asked the governors to resolve the issue of health workers' strike and stop giving lame excuses.
