Kiambu County Commissioner Alex Nkoyo has vowed to continue with the fight against illicit brews in the region as started by his predecessor.
Nkoyo replaced Esther Maina in the changes announced by Interior CS Joseph Nkaiserry last week.
Addressing Kikuyu residents on Wednesday at Kikuyu chief's camp, Nkoyo said the fight against illicit brews is still on and the changes do not mean that there will be any relaxation.
He said chiefs in the region will continue with the fight and those found engaging in the outlawed business will be arrested and charged accordingly.
He revealed that although cases of illicit brews in the county had greatly reduced, there will be no space to allow the illegal business to thrive.
He urged all chiefs in the area to soldier on with the crackdown until the brews are completely eradicated.
He said he has embraced his new jurisdiction and will continue with the fight against bad brews and other security issues that affect the region.
"I vow to continue working in an effort to keep Kiambu County a better place. Illicit brew is illegal and there is no debate about it. I warn those who think that the change in commissioners will also change the rules on illicit brew," said the county commissioner.
However, he called on Kiambu residents to cooperate with security agents in the fight against the bad brews and insecurity.
He urged chiefs to also take note of the information given to them by residents to foster good relationship.
