The chairman of the Commission on the Implementation of the Constitution(CIC) Charles Nyachae has been challenged to contest for the Nairobi gubernatorial seat in 2017.
South Mugirango MP, Manson Nyamweya has challenged Nyachae to try his luck in Nairobi politics by contesting against Dr Evans Kidero instead of eyeing Kisii Governor, James Ongwae's seat in the forthcoming general elections.
Speaking at Nyamecheo Primary School grounds on Friday evening, during a fundraiser, the MP who has declared his interest to unseat Ongwae in 2017, caused laughter when he said Nyachae would be climbing down the ladder to come 'village politics' instead of battling it out in the City.
"I am challenging my brother Charles Nyachae to consider running for the Nairobi County Governor's seat, since he has made a national name and appeal for himself during his tenure as CIC Chairman. It will be ridiculous for Nyachae to come home to compete with local politicians to unseat Ongwae yet there are bigger political positions out there for Nyachae and others who are already in the national league," stated Nyamweya.
Nyamweya said the Kisii Governor's seat was not for people like Nyachae whom he challenged to even negotiate for the position of presidential running-mate for President Uhuru Kenyatta to ensure the Gusii community occupies the second powerful political office in the land if President Kenyatta wins a second term.
Nyachae in response, declared that he has not asked for any political job in Kisii and he was not ready for one, until Gusii community members and the leadership unite and chart their political destiny with a common agenda.
Nyachae said he would then seek direction from the community on which political seat is preferred for him by the community members.
"I am categorical that, as far as Iam concerned, I have not declared any interest for any political position in Kisii County and I am not ready for one, until the community members give me direction on which seat they feel I am qualified to contest," said Nyachae
Nyachae said his current support of development projects across Gusiiland was not politically motivated, instead it was out of his wish to give back to the community.
