Nyamira county secretary Erick Aori has promised to work together with the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) to make sure that all civil servants get their salaries in time.
According to him since the county governments came into existence they have faced much of confusion when paying civil servants in various sectors in time.
Speaking on Tuesday in Nyamira town during civil servants summit, Aori noted that they have been undergoing various problems when paying civil servants their salaries and promised to collaborate with SRC to pay salaries in time.
“We are going to collaborate with SRC and make sure salary payment exercise always comes out successfully,” said Aori.
SRC commissioner, Peter Aringo who was present at the summit in Nyamira noted that corruption in Kenya was the key factor that has made civil servants not to get additional of salaries.
According to him, it is not mean that national government has no money to add all civil servants’ salaries but massive corruption takes it away.
“It is not the shortage of money in this country, the reality in Kenya is that corruption and theft of public funds as well as wastage that is taking place within county governments and the national government,” said Aringo.
He added that “There is so much duplication of jobs that we could do without, and these are areas we should address. For instance, what is the work of ward administrators and the chiefs? They are doing the same job and we pay them for the same job here we should make some savings," he said.
