Kisii town residents have challenged Governor James Ongwae to build dispensaries in every ward to improve health services.
The residents said they have a difficult time accessing treatment since the available facilities are far from their homes.
The residents led by Jared Oyaro said it was expensive for them since they are forced to seek treatment at Kisii Level Five Hospital and appealed to the governor to set up dispensaries in all the all 45 wards in the county.
“If our county government needs to improve the health sector, let all wards have at least one dispensary. Most of us spend a lot of money on transport to get to Kisii Level Five Hospital for treatment and at the same time we pay for the drugs because some hospitals have run out of stock,” noted Frank Mose another resident.
He also urged the county to supply the hospitals with enough drugs as most patients have to get them from private pharmacies. “Let the government buy enough drugs for our hospitals and set up dispensaries in every ward,” noted Moorine Gesami.
