Chama Cha Uzalendo party leader Wavinya Ndeti has urged women across Kenya to get involved in politics and compete against men the country’s leadership domain.
She said that it is time women stood for what they believe in despite being underrated by their male counterparts and take part in installing the kind of socio-economic transformation the country needs.
“Women who are ambitious enough to withstand intimidation from their male counterparts can too make exceptional leaders. Women, don’t let small talk from men discourage you from engaging in politics because you are able to bring about the change we want,” the former Kathiani MP encouraged.
She told women to also focus on their goals besides being visionary saying that she has set her eyes on Machakos gubernatorial seat come the next general election in 2017 and that nothing was going to stop her from turning her dream into reality.
“I appeal to women across Machakos County support me in my race to governorship. I believe that women are the best managers the society can get since they practise management right from their own homes,” she said.
While addressing the press outside Cathedral of Our Lady of Lourdes, Machakos, Ndeti maintained that women are conversant with issues that affect the common citizen, a trait that makes them better leaders than men.
Moreover, Ndeti noted that good leaders exercise influence instead of control over the people because subjection invokes rebellion.
