One student lost her life and five others sustained injuries in a road accident in Mlolongo town along Nairobi-Mombasa road on February 29, 2016.
The students were reportedly heading to Machakos from a school trip in Nairobi.
Confirming the incident Athi River OCPD Mtoro Kizito said that the school bus was from Nairobi whereby it developed mechanical problems and the driver lost control causing the accident.
"The bus developed mechanical problems and it was late night whereby it veered off the road," said Kizito.
The deceased was taken to city mortuary and the injured rushed to the Kenyatta National Hospital.
Kizito urged drivers to be extra vigilant while driving along Mombasa road as it is a very busy road.
