Kisii county government is scheduled to give out 900,000 mosquito nets to the residents of Kisii county as one of the measures of fighting malaria.
According to the officer in charge of malaria in Kisii county Florence Nyakwara, malaria cases records are upto 15% in Kisii county and that they are now on a mission of reducing that percentage to zero.
Nyakwara who was speaking at Orache dispensary in Bonchari constituency during the launching and distributing of mosquito nets on Thursday said that they chose to launch the exercise at Bonchari since the constituency is the one that is mostly affected.
“The ministry of health is going to distribute 900,000 to residents so that we can curb this disease; we decided to launch the exercise in Bonchari since it is mostly affected by malaria,” said Nyakwara.
In addition, she said that their aim is to encourage residents to use mosquito nets especially during this rain season.
“Our aim is to make sure that all residents benefit from these nets so that we can fight this disease together,” said Nyakwara.
