A major tussle is looming between incumbent South Mugirango MP Manson Nyamweya and aspirant Silvanus Osoro, who are both understood to be staunch supporters of Orange Democratic Party.

Mr Nyamweya had earlier indicated his intention to run for gubernatorial seat, prompting the young politician to throw his hut into the parliamentary race.

However, a close ally of the area MP, who spoke to this writer on condition of anonymity, revealed that the legislator had since withdrawn his interest in the gubernatorial race and would defend his seat in 2017 polls.

“I am sure that he (Nyamweya) is running for parliamentary seat and that is a guarantee. He dropped his gubernatorial ambition long time ago,” said the source.

“You understand that Ongwae (James) is will be defending his seat on ODM ticket and Nyamweya is a member of the party. That’s why he opted out of the race to defend his parliamentary seat,” the source added.

“Nyamweya cannot play with the minds of South Mugirango people. We have elected him twice and he even declared his interest in the gubernatorial seat. However, I am not bothered because if he wants humiliation, I dare him to challenge me in the ODM nominations,” he said.

Mr Osoro is a key ally of the ODM secretary general Ababu Namwamba and due have held a series of rallies in the region in more than two occasions.
