Sometimes it is good to remember the past where we have evolved from.
In the 1980's and 1990's, lesos were printed with proverbs in the Swahili language, which were mostly used to caution people against ill behaviours.
Those days mothers would go to the market and buy like 2 - 3 lesos for their children to learn from.
Some lesos had prints like; Kipya hakinyemi, Ujana ni moshi, Asiyefunzwa na mamake hufunzwa na ulimwengu among other Swahili proverbs. This helped many pupils, especially those back in the village, to sharpen their Swahili.
''I usually asked my mother to allow me to copy the Swahili proverbs which I later used to write inshas. This helped me a lot during my days in primary school,'' said Geoffrey Mabuka, a father of 2.
Of late, these lesos haven't been available. Are they still sold where you live?
