A society made of God-fearing youth is a safe society, destined for greater things, Bahati MP Kimani Ngunjiri has said.

Speaking on Sunday after attending mass at St Monica Catholic Church in Wanyororo, Ngunjiri regretted the crop of unmanageable youth being witnessed in society today saying it is as a result of ignoring the word of God.

"Look at the national HIV/Aids indicator, why are our young people the most affected? Where did the society mess up? Who is to blame?" wondered Ngunjiri.

He called on parents, care givers, teachers and other adult members of society to take up the responsibility of advising and mentoring teenagers which he said was the surest way of bringing up a sober and God fearing generation.

The MP took issue with immediate former Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education candidates who have formed a habit of organising unending house parties saying this was the best time of reflecting on what they wanted to do after receiving their results.

"Don't just drink and party all through, one day, you will realise that you were wasting precious time but it will be too late," the MP advised.

The church has formulated an all youth community service programme aimed at giving back to society this festive season.
