Bondeni residents have called upon the county government to collect the piles of garbage in the estate saying that it is hazardous to their health.
The irate residents who have threatened to demonstrate have said that there are piles of garbage eroded from the town and other areas because of the heavy rains. They said that since Bondeni slums is in a valley, garbage is easily pushed to the area when it rains.
"The estate is full of the garbage which is pushed by rain waters from other areas; we are now appealing to the county government to solve the situation and to also ensure that garbage from the other areas are collected on time in order to prevent them from being carried away by the rain water to this area," said Mary Amboka, a Bondeni resident.
Amboka has also urged the county government to unblock the sewers in the area in order to pave way for rain water which is flooding the area. Ali Muhhamed, another resident from the area said that the blocked sewers have also contributed to the piling garbage in the estate.
"The rain water carries garbage from the town when it rains and since the sewers are blocked, the water floods the area and leaves the garbage here," said Muhammed.
