"Good News in the Morning and a warm welcome to all the visitors on board," read the first tweet Tuesday from the Kenya Tourism Board official twitter page, with the handle @MagicalKenya.
Kenya's tourism sector seems to be reclaiming its former glory as the best tourist destination after yet another cruise ship with 607 tourists and 400 crew on board just docked Tuesday morning at the port of Mombasa.
To express their jubilation, the State corporation whose mission is to drive and support the effective marketing of Kenya’s tourism products, KTB, posted on their official twitter handle that, MV Insignia cruise vessel had just docked at the port of Mombasa.
Another tweet read that the vessel has 607 tourists and 400 crew on board.
This latest development is seen as a major boost to the sector that was worst affected following the travel bans from major countries and the aftermath of terrorism that was witnessed during the Westgate siege.
This has come at a time when the government has rolled out plans to waive visa fees for children less than 16 years beginning next month.
This move by the government will apply to all nationalities and is aimed at positioning Kenya as a family holiday destination, thereby encouraging more family visitors into the country.
Among other plans by the government to revamp the sector include charter incentives and infrastructure development, which are part of the strategy to recover the tourism sector.
Hotels in Nakuru too are registering good performance with tour vans occupying most parking spaces during the morning and midday.
