The decision by the county government of Nyamira to allocate Sh100 m for employment of 20 youths per ward to various departments has been warmly received by Borabu youths.

Nyagamara made the maiden announcement on Friday and promised to effect it in six months’ time, in what he termed as vision 2020.

The Borabu team led by Youth Chairman Charles Oganda on Sunday hailed the project and called for transparency during recruitment by the county team.

“As youths, we have been sidelined in the last three years, but the decision by the county government is timely. As Borabu team, we welcome it and urge the county government to ensure the exercise is transparent and objective so that the deserving youths are awarded,” he said

They also warned MCAs from any external interference and threatened to boycott recruitment process if they dared interfere with the exercise.

“Our MCAs have been very notorious. They are out to block employment of qualified people in favour of their preferred candidates. We warn them against interfering with the expected recruitment, and in case they dare tamper with it, let them be ready for a tough war from youths,” he added.

Separately, leading gubernatorial aspirant Charles Mochama had dismissed the plan on Friday terming it a ‘cheap reelection’ propaganda urging youths to boycott it.

“I wonder why someone can cheat our youths that they will be employed with just Sh100m in a financial year. That’s a cheap political propaganda meant for early campaigns. The Governor should stop playing mind games,” he told Manga residents.
