Constituency Development Fund (CDF) programme to refurbish schools in Kitutu Masaba will kick off Tuesday.
Their libraries will also be expanded and equipped with modern learning materials, according to the area MP.
Speaking on Monday at his backyard in Manga ward, Timothy Bosire said the program will target schools that are in dire need of renovation and learning materials with 'harambee' schools being major targets.
He said the program which will cost an estimated Sh12 million will be executed randomly in all the six wards in the region.
“I promised to invest in education when I took over and that is what I have done for these years. We will commence the program of renovating schools that are in dire need and also equipping those with inadequate learning facilities both primary and secondary schools. We will be doing it randomly across all the six wards,” he said.
He urged residents to respect the institutions that had been identified by a select committee that concluded the process of identifying 25 schools in which ten a secondary schools.
“I know some people like picking a political fight when we are initiating developments. This exercise will cover institutions that were identified by the select committee and I believe all regions are represented. We can’t all everything at one time,” he said.
He also said the CDF kitty would soon be secured for children in various schools to offset their school fee balances.
“The bursaries will also be out soon because application was done a while ago. We are hopeful to offset balances for needy students both in secondary schools and institutions of higher learning,” he said.
Among the schools to receive the boost on Tuesday include Nyamwanga primary and secondary schools before the inaugural program culminating in Nyakongo Primary School in Gesima ward.
