The University of Eldoret chancellor Judith Bahemuka has urged universities to embrace information communication and technology as a means of decongesting learning institutions.
Speaking during the university’s third graduation in Eldoret on Friday, Bahemuka said through ICT, students can attend to lectures form the convenience of their houses.
"Due to the high demand for education in our institutions, the number of students have increased and are now beyond universities reach making it hard for students to be taught properly,” she said.
She said the solution to the increased number of students is through introduction of distance learning programmes, hence the need for ICT.
"The University of Eldoret will soon launch its e-learning programme where students will be able to undertake their studies at the convenience of their homes.
She said since the world is becoming a global digital village, education should also follow suit by providing quality education through ICT.
