Uasin Gishu County Commissioner Abdi Hassan has put on notice all criminal gangs terrorising innocent residents in the region and giving them sleepless nights.

Speaking in his office on Monday, Abdi said he has declared total war on all criminal gangs in the county.

"I have received reports from the public of houses being broken into and people killed by armed gangsters during the night," he said.

He said he has put in place several mechanisms such deploying more police officers in insecurity prone areas to conduct frequent patrols.

"I have deployed more security officers in areas such as Langas, Kamukunji and Munyaka areas where we have received increased cases of insecurity,” the commissioner said.

He added that any criminal who will be found terrorising wananchi will be dealt with according to the law.

"I urge wananchi to stay vigilant by reporting any person with suspicious characters in their midst and I promise to take stern action against them," he said.

He urged residents to embrace the nyumba kumi initiative by knowing the people within their neighbourhoods.

"I urge wananchi to help up in the fight against insecurity by reporting suspected individuals since security begins with you," he added.
