Matungulu West MCA Salome Ndawa has called upon the Machakos County government to take over a borehole project which was established by the national government in the area before the introduction of devolution.

Speaking on Wednesday in Matungulu during a public meeting, Ndawa said the project, which involves the construction of three boreholes has been marred by corruption, making it of no benefit to the targeted beneficiaries.

"Pipes have been installed over and over again due to the use of poor quality piping materials. We are now asking our governor to take over the project so that residents can benefit from clean water,” said Ndawa.

The MCA said the boreholes will benefit thousands of residents in Matungulu Sub-County, adding that the benefits could even be extended to Kangundo Sub-County, if the project was placed under the right management.

The MCA said she will continue supporting Governor Mutua's governance so that Matungulu West Ward residents can benefit from the Maendeleo Chap Chap initiative.
