Up to 200 bodaboda riders in Nakuru County have received free reflector jackets in a campaign aimed at sensitising and promoting good driving and use of roads.

The reflector jackets were given by CMC motors and the National Transport and Safety Authority.

While addressing the riders at county headquarters during the issuing of reflector jackets on Friday, Nakuru County Deputy Governor Joseph Ruto, emphasised on the need to adhere to road safety regulations.

He said bodaboda operators have given the industry a bad name as they are often found breaking traffic rules.

“This is a crucial message I would like to see all of you embrace, and it is not only for your safety, but also for the safety of other users of our public roads. These jackets will definitely go a long way in reducing road accidents as motorists and pedestrians will see you easily,” he said.

Nakuru Central Rift Bodaboda Sacco Chairman, Stanley Musyoka, said the reflector jackets are a good show of support from the county government and NTSA.

“We are glad that you support us and these reflector jackets will go a long way in safeguarding our lives when we are on the roads especially at night,” he said.
