Nakuru County youth forum on Wednesday commenced a robust process to gather views from youths in preparation for the County Youth Policy Bill.
The forum’s chair Philip N’gok said the exercise will help in bringing important aspects in developing Nakuru youths to the fore.
“This is a good chance because we will interact with youths from various backgrounds who will all have diverse thinking. We will pick on the key issues raised and capitalise on them in constituting this policy,” he said.
County Executive Member for Public Service Management Prof Catherine Kitetu who attended the meeting in Nakuru town said this is an opportunity to capture aspects of funding and organisation of groups.
“Crucial aspects in policy formulation that you should be on a wide scope to capture are among others funding for youths and organisation of groups because these are among issues the policy is expected to address effectively and in a holistic manner,” said Kitetu.
She called on N’gok to steer the exercise with diligence so that it can be a success as the process through the county department of Youth Affairs had started the process but it was hoarded for due to concerns of a clear legal basis.
Once the policy is enacted, county youths will have a reason to smile as their grievances and grey areas in governance will be addressed.
