Former Kitutu Masaba MP Mwancha Okioma has ordered two Ford People leaders who were ousted last week to appear before the party’s disciplinary board to explain irrugul;ar withdrawal of 5M shillings from the party’s account.
Mr Okioma had forcefully taken over as party’s chairman, toppling former planning minister Henry Obwocha and Mr Albert Nyaundi, who worked as party’s secretary general.
On Tuesday, when addressing supporters at Dam side hotel, Okioma said preliminary investigations have shown that the two authorised irregular withdrawal of the money on June 2015 without a consensus by the party’s NEC.
“Our constitution is clear that NEC comes with a proposal which is endorsed before money is withdrawn. We have investigated and at least 5M shillings are missing from our accounts and the two (Obwocha and Nyaundi) must appear before the disciplinary board to explain in a week’s time,” he said.
The interim chairman said his leadership will not hesitate to take legal actions against the accused of they failed to comply with the order.
“I have written to them as per our constitution and they have no choice other than appearing before the disciplinary committee. Otherwise, failure to do that, we will not hesitate to take legal actions against them in in court,” Okioma added.
He also said the disciplinary committee will investigate anomalies detected through a scrutiny that was done recently which saw thousands of shillings allocated for rent of the party’s premises not accounted for.
