Kisumu County Deputy Governor Ruth Odinga has declared that it will not be business as usual in the county government in terms of performance.
Speaking to journalists in Kisumu on Friday, Odinga said all county staff including executive members and chief officers mandated to work on behalf of the people must deliver positive results.
She said as the one in charge of performance management which includes monitoring and evaluation of the projects, she will ensure that services are delivered to the locals of Kisumu County.
“I am now in charge and I want to tell county workers to pull up their socks and deliver to the people of Kisumu,” she said.
She said the fight against corruption in the county will be tightened adding that individuals county staff will carry their own cross if found culpable.
She urged the public to volunteer information about corrupt county officers, adding that fighting corruption is a collective responsibility.
Odinga also raised alarm over misuse of county vehicles saying most of them are always spotted around town at night.
“Some county officers are fond of driving themselves even late into the night. Be warned as I am now sourcing for a car track to ensure that the vehicles are used prudently,” she said.
She said the behaviour must stop since the vehicles are county resources and not individual property.
