Nakuru governor Kinuthia Mbugua has condemned politicians he says are 'clinging' onto projects initiated by the county government instead of coming up with their own projects.

Speaking after he officiated a funds drive at Kiamunyi SDA church, the governor said that some leaders had evidently done nothing tangible in their areas ever since being elected.

He says that we have different funds channelled to different accounts at the local level from the national government including the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) kitty but some leaders were not utilising them well.

“A project being funded by my government should be attributed to me, don’t lie to the people of Nakuru in the name of hiding in what is not yours, stand up and be counted,” he said.

According to Mbugua, some leaders were accusing him of mismanagement of funds forgetting that every leader had structured a manifesto and made promises that were supposed to be fulfilled.

He advised leaders to remain true to their campaign pledges to create a society where upcoming leaders will learn to say the truth to the electorate during campaigns.

“It is interesting how some of us are basking in other people’s glory forgetting that at the end of the day; the people of Nakuru who elected them into office are watching.

If you make a step on one side as I make another step from the other side, the end product of a developed society is achieved in the most convincing way possible,” Mbugua added.

The governor has been on a development project tour in different parts of the county in the recent weeks where he has expressed confidence in finishing on all projects by the end of 2016.

Last week, he was in Gilgil Sub-County where he inaugurated the Langa Langa Polytechnic, Kigogo road and dam projects before opening Murindat road.
